Planters are in, and it’s easy to see why. It’s the quirky little details and touches of personality that transform houses into homes.
Recently, I ordered a meerkat planter from Penny Miller, and it quickly became my new favourite funny little home detail. I tested it out in the garden, where it looked way too “at home”, before re-homing my new friend on the bedroom mantelpiece where he brings a little life and a little humour into my décor. I teamed him up with a text print (downloaded for free here) in a simple frame, a scented candle and some glass Christmas baubles which would otherwise be locked away in the cupboard with no one to admire them. I love the way my new meerkat friend – let’s call him Marky – adds a little fun to my Winter décor.
Whether you choose planters that make you laugh (my personal favourites), planters that you just must have or planters that simply complement the colour of the drapes, one thing is for certain: everyone has got to have at least one planter among their home décor pieces. Here’s why:
Planters can be mixed and matched… D-I-Yed… Or upcycled. They can be hung with decorative pieces… Changed with the seasons… Or be bold statement pieces.
Planters are such a versatile piece of home décor. And their compact size means they can be transported when moving house, rearranging the furniture or changing the décor. I love the convenience and touch of sweetness they bring to home decorating – such a simple and inexpensive way to add personality.
